From the first shop in Lebanon to Sonnenallee in Berlin and on to Cologne — ten chapters about family, setbacks and the flavour that holds it all together.

The story starts with a small shop in Lebanon. Hard work, passion and sticking together lay the foundation for everything that would come many years later.

The family story continues in Berlin. On Sonnenallee, where a fruit and vegetable shop once stood, Omar’s uncle and aunt spend eight months rebuilding the space from top to bottom and create a shop of their own — right in the heart of Neukölln.

At just 11 years old, Omar starts helping out in the family business. He looks after the customer areas, keeps the shop clean and makes sure everything is in order — right down to the toilets. Step by step he grows up alongside the shop and remains part of the family business every single day until he turns 18.

The apartment next to the shop is taken over and connected to the business by knocking through the wall. That opens up far more space. Everything is fully renovated — and for the first time the shop takes on the red look that so many still know today.

Together with a business partner, Omar takes over the family business and brings fresh ideas to the table. The goal: grow the one shop into a real chain, with locations in several cities.

Omar develops a new homemade sauce and puts “Spezial” on the menu. Word of the taste spreads fast — and it triggers the first big hype.

Then comes the biggest setback: the business partner takes all the shops away from Omar. The hardest blow of all is losing the family shop on Sonnenallee — the very place where it all began.

Giving up was never an option. Omar starts completely fresh with Nhas City Chicken and opens a new shop on Sonnenallee — just around the corner from the old one. Soon after come the Garlic Parmesan Wings: a flavour that still sparks huge hype today and has left a lasting mark on the food scene.

The first videos go online — and something special happens right away. Hundreds of millions of views, huge hype and a strong community emerge in no time at all. Thank you to everyone who has become part of this journey.

For the first time the story reaches beyond Berlin: Nhas City Chicken opens its first location outside the city — right in the heart of Cologne. Step by step Nhas City Chicken keeps growing — and In Sha Allah this is only the beginning. Our goal stays the same: everyone should get the chance to try our chicken.
We lost everything — and that’s exactly where the most important story began.
The roots of Nhas City Chicken go back to 1993, when the family opened its first shop in Lebanon. In Berlin, the story began in 1996 with a shop on Sonnenallee in Neukölln, and today’s Nhas City Chicken brand was created in 2023.
The founder and owner of Nhas City Chicken is Omar Nhas. He grew up in the family business on Sonnenallee, started helping out at the age of eleven, took over the business in 2019 and relaunched the Nhas City Chicken brand in 2023.
The family’s first Berlin shop opened on Sonnenallee in Neukölln in 1996 — right where a fruit and vegetable shop had been before. Nhas City Chicken itself launched on that same street in 2023.
Nhas City Chicken is known for hand-breaded chicken made to a family recipe — every piece is breaded by hand, without a machine. The Garlic Parmesan Wings triggered huge hype in 2023 and left a lasting mark on the food scene.
